Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the sole celebrity who moved from the country to mainstream and then to be a pop icon worldwide. Swift removed her roots in the country like they were a second skin, revealing she was perhaps the savviest populist singer/songwriter of her generation one that could tap into the current zeitgeist and make it personal and also perform opposite. Her early songs including the neotribute to Tim McGraw were a testament to her talents. The second album Fearless of 2008 proved to be a songwriter finding her voice and a wider audience. Fearless became an enormous success not just in America where its Top Ten singles Love Story as well as You Belong with Me helped it to record six platinum albums as well as around the globe. The album was particularly successful throughout Canada Australia in Australia and Canada. U.K. Swift's second album, Speak Now, released just two years after the first one, consolidated this success. It propelled Swift to superstardom. With her subsequent three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017), the popularity of Swift grew, and she found herself in a world of pop music where it was clear that she deserved to be. Although she slowed down the production of her folklore album, and Evermore released in 2020, she was still leading the way in pop music.
